What a plan does not include
Every plan leaves these out. Each is billed the way it would be at any eye doctor.
Eye problem visits
A red, sore or irritated eye, or a change in your vision, is a medical visit. It is billed to your medical insurance, as at any eye doctor.
Eye disease checks
Checks and follow-ups for conditions such as glaucoma or diabetes-related eye changes are billed to medical insurance.
Contact lens fittings
The exam is in the plan. The fitting visits and the lenses themselves are billed separately and are on your written estimate.
Frames, lenses and coatings
Glasses are billed separately. Plan members see a member rate on the written estimate before they decide.
Emergency care
Sudden vision loss, a curtain over your vision or an eye injury needs care now. Call us or go to an emergency room.
Insurance of any kind
A household plan does not replace a vision plan or medical insurance. We bill those first when you have them.
Terms
Term, cancelling and refunds
The same for every plan, and written into the plan you sign.
Term
A plan year is 12 months from the day you join. It renews for another year unless you cancel.
How to cancel
Tell the office by phone, email or in person before the renewal date. There is no charge for cancelling.
Refund
Cancel within 30 days of joining with no visit used and the plan fee is refunded in full. After that, unused full months are refunded pro-rated, and a visit already used is not.
Plan questions
Plan FAQs
What is a household plan?
A plan sets out, for one year, each member's comprehensive eye exam and the extras that come with it, such as frame adjustments and a written estimate before any order. It is a service agreement with the office, not insurance.
Is a plan insurance?
No. A household plan does not replace a vision plan or medical insurance. We bill those first when you have them, and the plan covers the exam when they do not.
What does a plan cost?
The office gives you the current plan fee in writing before you join. You decide after you have read it. How fees work explains estimates, vision plans and medical insurance.
What is not included?
Eye problem visits, eye disease checks and emergency care are medical visits and are billed to medical insurance. Contact lens fittings, lenses, frames and coatings are billed separately. The list is on the plans page.
How do I cancel?
Tell the office by phone, email or in person before the renewal date. There is no charge for cancelling.
What if I cancel early?
Within 30 days of joining, with no visit used, the plan fee is refunded in full. After that, unused full months are refunded pro-rated. A visit already used is not refunded.
Can children be on a plan?
Yes, at any age, up to six people in one home. A parent or guardian comes to a child's exam.
Can I add someone later?
Yes. Call the office and Liz adds the new member from the next term, or sooner if you ask for a written estimate for the rest of the year.
Ask Liz about a plan
She can walk you through the terms by phone, or you can book a visit and read them in the office.
