Examines every member of every household.
Household eye care plans
Halfrim Eye Care in South Burlington sets out each member's yearly exam, what comes with it, what does not, and how to leave. The office gives you the current plan fee in writing before you join.

Household plans
Every plan covers the same things and carries the same terms. You pick by how many people are on it.
For one adult or one older teen who wants the year set out in advance.

A written estimate before any glasses or contact lens order
A reminder when your exam is due
For a couple or two adults sharing a home, each on their own exam date.
One comprehensive eye exam each in the plan year
Frame adjustments and repairs checks at any visit
A written estimate before any glasses or contact lens order
Both exam dates tracked by one coordinator
For parents, children and anyone else under one roof, any age.
One comprehensive eye exam for every member in the plan year
Frame adjustments for every member at any visit
A written estimate before any glasses or contact lens order
One renewal notice for the whole household
A plan year
No surprises later: this is the order things happen in.
The office hands you the plan fee and the terms in writing. Nothing starts until you say yes.
Liz sets each member's exam date and sends a reminder when it comes up.
Stop in for a frame adjustment, a nose-pad change or a loose screw whenever you need one.
Before the term ends you get a notice. Renew, change the members, or let it end.

A red, sore or irritated eye, or a change in your vision, is a medical visit. It is billed to your medical insurance, as at any eye doctor.
Checks and follow-ups for conditions such as glaucoma or diabetes-related eye changes are billed to medical insurance.
The exam is in the plan. The fitting visits and the lenses themselves are billed separately and are on your written estimate.
Glasses are billed separately. Plan members see a member rate on the written estimate before they decide.
Sudden vision loss, a curtain over your vision or an eye injury needs care now. Call us or go to an emergency room.
A household plan does not replace a vision plan or medical insurance. We bill those first when you have them.

Plan questions
The short answers. The plans page has the rest.
A plan sets out, for one year, each member's comprehensive eye exam and the extras that come with it, such as frame adjustments and a written estimate before any order. It is a service agreement with the office, not insurance.
No. A household plan does not replace a vision plan or medical insurance. We bill those first when you have them, and the plan covers the exam when they do not.
The office gives you the current plan fee in writing before you join. You decide after you have read it. How fees work explains estimates, vision plans and medical insurance.
Eye problem visits, eye disease checks and emergency care are medical visits and are billed to medical insurance. Contact lens fittings, lenses, frames and coatings are billed separately. The list is on the plans page.
Tell the office by phone, email or in person before the renewal date. There is no charge for cancelling.
Within 30 days of joining, with no visit used, the plan fee is refunded in full. After that, unused full months are refunded pro-rated. A visit already used is not refunded.
